Another week has come and gone--but we have all accomplished alot this past week---so onward goes the count down to "C" day!!!!
I got mail---today---the ornament signature blocks came ---
and Robin sent two other snowball blocks and --
and this pretty fat quarter---THANK YOU ROBIN!!!
WENT grocery shopping at Wal mart and went in the Christmas section and I bought these two birds --for next year---
can you guess what color I want on my white tree next year????
Here is some more ornaments from my big tree--
This mouse is "old"--she has been on my tree since my first tree after I married in 1967 or the following year--I put her on the tree first---WHY you ask---well---I really don't know--it is just the way it is?????
Son Dan made this in Kindergarten--it is a easy kids craft--just cut poster board into shapes and let them spell words with the little abc macaroni's and use some batting or cotton balls to top!!!
This one Dawn made in Kindergarten-- and it is a dried milk weed pod--painted inside and out==glitter dots added and a small plastic figure and some cotton--another neat kids craft!!!!
And this was my son's--remember my daughter's yesterday--even though there is 8 years between them--they must of had the same teacher in one of their grades!!!
Have a WONDERFUL weekend and take a minute or two to breathe--or hug a kid--or pet a kitten!!!
Hugs, Di

DECEMBER 3---THURSDAY
And the count down is truly under way now--
Had a busy day to day--I even did this--
Went down and got Mary her cup of tea--she now has a pain patch and is excited that tonight she is not in as much pain--bless her!!
then did some sewing in the sewing room--am working at putting together the Christmas Wish blocks--have the center done and the border pieces cut!!!!
And then I went to Mary's in the afternoon and had this--
When I got home I actually carried this down and did it--

And so I did some "great" stuff today!!!!
Plus I took some photos of some ornaments on my tree---here goes---
I actually painted these two for the kids--but so far I still have them--they were done years--years ago!!!
Dawn's first grade teacher made each of the students one of these--1974(?)--
This is a Hatched and Patched pattern that I feel in love with last year--
A skate that I made out of felt one year -long ago- for son Dan--
One of the kids made this in school--long-long ago--it is just a plastic ring with yarn ties to it and then a piece of pink felt glued onto the back of the ring and 2 wiggle eyes glued inside--
and this is a mouse I made back in 1986 or so and I sold a batch or two of them at craft shows!!!
THIS journey to Di's tree will continue tomorrow so be sure to tune back in then!!!!

Why does Santa have 3 gardens???????
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
So he can "HO-HO-HO"!!!!!!!!
Have a Christmas cookie or two--or bake some and eat them fresh from the oven--Yum!!! Hugs, Di

GOOD NEWS!!!
My blue tree is now a joyful and funny adventure and I can laugh about it all--me and the bank now agree on my balance and all overdrafts were lifted---YES!!!!
AND----
WE HAVE A STOCKING WINNER---
it is Julia of Julia's place---congratulations, Julia---she just has to pick one out and then it will be in the mail to her!!!
Don't cry if you did not win this time--there will be other "times" so best to read me every day--even you are busy--take a moment and enjoy some blog reading!!!!
ALSO--I will be posting nearly everyday on the Di's workbasket site--there I am posting about different holiday ideas--etc. Just click on the side bar and it takes you to that site---ENJOY!!!!
Now for today's "adventures"--
FIRST this was my entertainment--
Yep--another dirty--- dusty--- job---
It did take awhile--they started at 8:30 am and by 2:00 pm it was done--
Now for the clean up--that will take them a good day--the pile is really large!!!
This is what I worked on this morning while I was watching them work--
This is ready for batting and backing and some hand quilting--I love the color!!!
Then Little sister and I went over town and had a slice of pizza for lunch--then the bank--and I seen this parked across the street--
does anyone know the make, model, year of this baby???? It is "my color" I know that!!!
At the Quilt shop--also across the street from the bank--I got this--
Got all kinds of neat ideas and patterns I want to do in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then--of course on the way to the drug store--we had to go right past my favorite Country shop--and for some reason my feet just seem to turn in and my hands for some reason always seem to open the door--but look what I found today----
Isn't she the "sweetest"????? And she is made from a Christmas hankie--so of course I had to give her a new home with my hankies!!!!
Now for some more Hoosier decorating--
this is upper right hand side--the gingerbread on the bottom shelf, on the right is one I made and painted and is my own design--this is from years ago again and was even a class I taught then--
this is the center section on top and this one has a glass door--can you see that I have a candle light inside the old metal round grater--cute--bottom shelf on the right is a gingerbread I made also long time ago--the little pillow in the bowl is from a craft show and the other gingerbread angel came from a country shop 5 or 6 years ago!!
this shelf is on the left side and this is a gingerbread doll that i designed when i had my shop 10 years ago!!
Would you believe that I don;t remember where I got this wood gingerbread from--???
this one my friend Sally gave me a couple years ago--he;s a big boy!!!!
AND HERE IT IS ALL TOGETHER---I have really enjoyed decorating this Hoosier this year--but I have really enjoyed sharing the photos with all of you--thanks!!!
Have a break today and enjoy an extra cup of tea/coffee/hot cocoa!!!!
Hugs, Di

IS IT FOR BAKING OR ????
As some of you may remember I got me an old Hooiser cabinet this summer and in the olden days these were women's baking centers---so do I use mine that way????-it even still has a working flour sifter and everything--soooo----
HERE IS HOW I USE MINE---
See here is the flour sifter and there is even a set of old mixing bowls under it--
And this is what is in front of that area--
This is the middle section of the cabinet--I have an old wooden bowl with my old metal cookie cutters in it with a cute lamp light in the middle of them--the 3 gingerbreads you see are actual gingerbread cookies that I made a few years ago--I store them in a metal tin with the Christmas Decorations every year and they stay fresh!!--
and this is the display in front of the middle section--I have a really small set of baking tools--probably a kids set and a glass gingerbread ornament in front of them and they are in a small red and white striped bowl--
And now for a story---see the little miniature tea set on the left hand side--well, I picked that up maybe 8 years ago at a glass shop here in town---then about 2 years ago at a rummage sale I picked up the regular sized cup and saucer--not realizing until that next Christmas that they matched--then this year when I went to display them both in the Hooiser--I decided I needed a "backdrop" so I hauled out a couple Christmas books and found the one that said something about tea--decided that had to be the one--it wasn't until I had actually set it behind the tea sets that I realized it goes with the sets also--NOW how is that for a story?????? Behind the miniature set is an old gold glass tea jar that I have had forever!!!
And this is in the front of that section--yes I also collect rolling pins!!!!! Maybe that is why I am "UNmarried"--the fellows seen I had too tooo many rolling pins???????
Bank update--Thankfully I am now only -26.00--will go to the bank and see about this hopefully tomorrow--sooo--maybe I will come out ok--I may even get around to feeling like finishing the decorating on the blue tree?????
Today was a shopping day--food--OK I confess-- I was totally out of chocolate---we are going to lose our one grocery store after the first of the year--we may only have Wal mart to shop at then---Bad news there--so the local grocery store is not stocking alot--and our Family Dollar store is going out of business--found a couple things there today that I stocked up on--I did not shop at this store often as it was a really "smelly" store--cheap candles--bad--bad---bad!!!
Then I had a doctor appointment and that took an hour--I did get alittle quilting done
but not alot--hope tomorrow I can get more done--how are you doing on your projects???
*********************
ANNOUNCEMENT---HEAR YE--HEAR YE!!!!!!
AH--look at these stockings that I made in August--I do believe that one of them is ready for a new home--soooo---just leave me a comment today and you may be the new owner of one of your choice--tell which one you would pick?????
*********************
What do you call people who are afraid of Santa Claus??????
****************
Claustrophobic!!!!!!!
That's all for today--see ya tomorrow!!!!
Hugs, Di
