and so many questions I have to things
I don't begin to understand--
I figure my best stand is to--
Just keep on stitching--
and keep loving my family and dear friend--
which means all my blog readers--
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do any of you remember my 'Hitty' doll--???
well--she said she wanted to show you the newest block I made for the
Silver Linings challenge--
I do believe she did a nice job--
that was this mornings work-
and some work was being done on my pink heart top--
Yesterday--
I was still in the Pinks--
first up I created 4 more Lady blocks--
I did 2 in last week's color pink group
and 2 in this week's color pink group--
I really love making these Southern Ladies--
(here at Ivy Cottage that is what we call these blocks--
Southern Ladies!!!)
And I made only 2 blocks of the
9 patches and the star blocks from this color group--
Because I now have 10 of each in the '3' shades of pink for the quilt--
I cut up lots of strips in 2 1/2" squares for each color of the month--
and then I put the leftover squares in a baggie--
and then these baggies all go in a plastic shoe box--
with hopes that I will be using them in another project in the future!!
I always pull one of the past star blocks out to help me in seeing how to
turn the half square triangles to make the star--
and this one is the one that was on the top--
only--
I noticed that I had turned that bottom row upside down--
when I sewed it on--
so out came the seam ripper--
and now it is a real star!!!
my appliqued blue heart blocks are all done now--
so I needed a new applique project--
so one morning I got out paper,pencil,ruler and scissors and came up with this one--
I know it looks like another one that is being done online--
but--I think mine is larger--and like I said I drew this one out myself--
you all know how I like basket blocks--
only--
these are different--
I am also a firm believer that all baskets should be in shades of browns--
and as you can see--
these baskets are not --brown--
I am going to do all colors--so we might see a couple brown ones--
only time will tell--
I do have a couple ideas of where these baskets are going--
and how I might finish them off--again--time will tell!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now --someone on here--
and forgive me-- I don't remember whose site I read it on--
recommended this product--
for freezer paper--
I have pretty much just used the freezer paper on the roll you get in the stores-
but decided to order this one--
and --
and --
I just love this one-
it is heavy sheets--as thick as a good cardstock grade-
so I did question if it would work--
but it does--
and the pattern of the basket I cut out--
I was able to re-iron it 3 times so far--
and because of the thickness of the sheet-
it is so easy to trace the outline of the shape on your fabric!!
will see how many more times it will re-iron on fabric with the next batch I need to make--
So thank you to whoever wrote about this--
I ordered this directly from the maker--quiltersparadiseesc.com
And talking about ordering--
from facebook ads I ordered 2 items--
first up was this grouping of fabrics--
I thought I would be saving time by trying to co-ordinate fabrics--
well--this order took over 70 some days to get here--
and--
I can not use these in quilts--
as they are sooo very thin--
not sure what to use them on--
and I ordered this--
again it took over 70 some days to get here--
I have not opened it yet--
it looks really cheaply made--
right now there is another ad on facebook
well-it has been on for awhile now--
showing this cutter cutting through over 8 layers of fabric--
guess which fabric they are using to demonstrate this cutting-
yep--that very very thin fabric in the top photo--
so--
this southern lady has learned a lesson--
unless I know the company--
or another blogger has ordered from the company and is happy with the order--
this southern lady is not ordering from them!!!!
As I proof read this--
my thought/question is--
is the word southern lady wrong--
with so many old terms now being changed--
is this one someone will feel is offensive??
I mean I am a lady (most of the time anyways!!)
and I do live down south--
like I said at the beginning of the post--
way too many things going on in the world today--
I don't know what to say or how to feel--
so I am just going back to my sewing machine now--
and bury my head in sewing
until someone writes out the new rules on what is right or wrong!!
IN THE MEANTIME--
I LOVE ALL MY BLOG FRIENDS NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE--
AND STAY SAFE AND STITCH AWAY--AND KEEP SMILING-
IF YOU HAVE A MASK ON--PEOPLE CAN SEE THE SMILE IN YOUR EYES!!
