FINISHES AND SOME NEW STARTS

Can you believe that August is nearly all gone--Just a couple more days and then we will be into--September--how did this happen?????

So first up--Here was my goals for-OMG challenge for August--

Part of August goals for me was to put the 4 apron blocks into a top--not only did that get done--but I even got it all hand quilted and it is hung on the wall leading into the kitchen--I found a stencil that looked like 'apron strings' and used that for the lattice and a larger one for the borders!!

I also had down to finish the hand quilting on this one--

And we know that I got his one done also--these where also each for a Dirty Dozen challenge-this one for July #5 and the Apron one was for August #3--so now to wait and see what number gets picked for September ???
the other ones were--

In other goals--
1. to get the Snowflake blocks into a top
2. to get the Silver Lining blocks into a top
3. to get the Jolly Bar blocks into a top--
(as we will be doing the last block for this one this week-
so figure we will be getting the finishing instructions next week)
4. will be finishing up my applique basket blocks end of this week--
so will need to find another applique project to work on--
wonder what I might do????
And I am happy to say that--all the rest of these got done--
except for totally getting the Jolly Bar blocks into a full top--the strips are done--but am still 'thinking' on how I want to finish it!!
and we know that I am doing the Butterfly blocks for the next applique project--
So I guess I get a B+ for August goals!!!!!!!!!!

And we know about the Butterfly applique project I am working on--
here is some other ones that got appliqued this week--
And this morning I prepped 8 more to butterflies in pinks, corals, and greens!!
And talking about Butterflies and your voting--it was so surprising to see everyone--But one person pick #2 for the accent work--But for now--I have decided to just do them as you see the photo above--I think I will wait until time to quilt the quilt before adding any other features to them--So hang in there for details, later!!!!

And then I had fun playing with a new block that the Quilt Guild sent me--
(you know the group that I was only able to make one meeting to before all this virus stuff happened!!) and this block was like eating potato chips--couldn't stop with just one-so--this is what I ended up with--

There is '4' blocks in each block here-- and you use a charm pack to make them-I ended up with all the narrow 2.5" x 5" strips--so I had just enough to use them as a border--but now I am trying to decide if I want--or if  could use one more border in that off white going round the outside edges??????
I do believe I will be making more of this block--and a bit larger quilt next time--so will need '2' charm packs--!!!

And then --as I didn't want to start a large hand quilting project until I seen what number gets drawn for the dirty dozen, I went to work on this project again--
Remember me working on this one a while ago--
have a few hand pieced now and more are cut and ready to be stitched-but the most important thing is--I figured out how I want to finish this quilt and have the plans and measurements down on paper--!!!

and there has been a bit more sewing-but no great strides in finishes just yet--
so we will all be patient and wait--right????

In other news--
I did get some time out on Thursday--girl friend Frannie and I went to lunch at Arby's and sat in their out door area to eat it-there was a nice little breeze--so it wasn't too hot-that is  always nice here in Florida--then we took her car through a large car wash (she had a free coupon) and that was an interesting experience--yep during these days of Covid--even being in a car--going through a car wash can be exciting!!!!! Then we also got brave and went in a Dollar Tree store--we watched first and seen that those coming out had masks on and those going in did--(I did run into a lady customer who was coughing really bad--even with her mask on-so you bet I did take a shower as soon as I got home!!) And then we went to Publix grocery store--that was '4' stops--the most I have done since March 17th!!! so I am either getting bored or braver!!!!

CALL SOMEONE YOU HAVEN'T TALKED TO IN A LONG TIME AND TELL THEM YOU ARE THINKING OF THEM--
LUV, DI

You are making good progress. I like the apron piece you made. The border fabric is perfect for it.
