It took----me at age 76--ok--76 1/2 and my friend Carolyn at age 81--three days to pack me up and to move all the light weight stuff down to the new apartment-- it was alot of work and walking--her cell phone said together we did over 1.5 miles--just the first day!!!
We would start at the old apartment and pack boxes for awhile then we would load up 2 large laundry carts and made a trip down to the new apartment and then back to old one--where we would sit a little bit and drink some water and rest--then it was back to packing and another trip--it was a long walk--the old apartment was on a long wing on the north end of the building and the new one was down one floor and as far south as the building goes--with a long hallway going east to west in the middle that we had to walk--and then there was the elevator to deal with on each trip!!! I always sent Carolyn home around 4pm--rested some and then I was back at it--sometimes bringing down a couple more loads--
MY question is---where does it all come from--???? do things multiply while we sleep?????? Or do quilters just have a lot of 'stuff'????? the fabric did go into medium sized boxes for the staff to move on Monday--I really wasn't ready yet for the move and on Monday-- I had to go on the Van to Walmart--
The 2 men on staff showed up at 1:00 and the taller of the two--'was mean and nasty' though it all--we got to my bed almost last-and he turned to me and asked me what he was suppose to do with it--?? Well, move it of course!!!!
Now I do have a nice new white bed frame and new mattress in a box--and they are both still in the boxes--hopefully that is the plan for tomorrow--to set them up and my son coming for the old but still useful bed for one of their spare bedrooms!!
OK let's talk--new apartment--it is on the second floor and is an end unit--when I go out my door and turn left there is a smaller elevator- I can ride it down to first floor and there is the door to go outside--though it is the back of the building--but it is a nice walk around the building to the front--and now I get more fresh air and sunshine if I go that way--or I can still go through the building to get to the lunch room, mail boxes, ect. I had been praying that when I moved back to Ascension Manor in a year or so-( oh after this move I am not ready to move anything in the future!!!!---that I would get one of the apartments there that have the new step in showers--WELL--God decided not to make me wait--this apartment has one--the toilet it low to the ground--(where as my other one was a tall one!!) And the kitchen---it was designed for a giant!!! At least someone taller than me--and a totally different cupboard set up that the other apartment--so have alot of thinking to do as to how to organize the things I need and use all the time!!!
So lots of changes to deal with--it took 4 full days to pack up and move the old apartment to this new location and so far 6 days of unpacking--though I am not organized yet--and there is still the new bed to put together and a new desk--(everything comes in pieces now and you have to put everything together--challenging???)
Therefore--I have not had a needle or sewed a stitch since all this started--two nights ago I did pick up the knitting needles--but boy did my fingers fight and hurt--had to keep stopping and rub them--they finally got a little better--
time to go--need to move some things around a bit so we can move the old bed to set up the new bed--it's always something--to do---

I was thinking of you this morning and wondering how the move went. So glad you are liking the new space.
I'm so happy for you but it really is SO much work! You'll be glad you did it though! WHEW!
Moving is such hard work for sure!! At least you are "in" now and can take your time setting up...hopefully that will go well for you...
best of luck hugs, Julierose
Hope you settle in soon.
Sure was and still is a big job moving , lm sure you won’t want to do again too soon.
Lucky Carolyn could help.
I hope you are getting settled into your new apartment, Di. Moving is quite a job. It is so wonderful that Carolyn was able to help you. Hugs.
Moving is always a pain, but it is a good time to get rid of some of the accumulated stuff. Hope this apartment turns out to have much better air quality than you last one. Hoping the unpacking goes smoothly so you can get settled in and stitching again.
