Squirrel had jumped down the rabbit hole-----
when I was getting down something from my quilt book shelf--I found this one--
this still laid around for a week or two--I did look it over and along with the book I had a plastic bag of white envelopes, that I discovered had the flower patterns already cut from freezer paper in each one--hummmm????
I also read inside the book it said--May 2007--and I do even remember when and where I bought it--at a little shop in Dundee, NY with my friend Anne--she may have even bought it for me for my birthday as that is in May--???? But other than doing the pattern prep after getting the book--it has been hauled around from apartments and states for 18 years!!! I decided I would do some of the flowers as I was looking for an applique pattern--but still hadn't decided 'when'--
Well--the 'when' came by and visited me on Thursday--this week--first I needed to check out all my greens, I even had a envelope of green leaves I had even cut out-but needed fabric to match for the bias stems---was lucky and did find some to go with the leaves--then I cut 8" squares (that will be trimmed to 7 1/2" squares later from white fabric--and as I seemed to be on a roll--I prepped '4' blocks to applique and got one done yesterday afternoon--
Now--I also discovered in the pile of envelopes I had too many envelopes--why????
well--then I realized and remembered that there was 2 flower quilt books by E. Burns that day and that Anne had gotten the second one and I had borrowed it, and also had those flowers all traced and cut out on freezer paper--so I did go hunting to find that book and did find a used one at Walmart --online--for only $5.00--so you know me--had to order it --but who knows how many years it will be before I do some in that book??????????? If I wait another 18 years I would be 95---!!!!!
I also had some finishes in the last couple weeks-
First up is the truck piece is finished--
And I am now working on Jenny's bom from, I think, 2 years ago--
Am doing a cross hatch design in the block and then straight line hand quilting on the strips around each block--I just have 2 centers left to do and then the border--
On the cross stitching front--I have 2 total finishes--

This was kit that Anne sent me for my birthday--the Bee is from the pattern--but this fabric was way too stiff for me to work on--so from there I just did my own design to finish it with the tall sunflower and then finished it off--
And here is another design from Melisa's treasure trove of designs--
I love these crock 1869 designs she does--and needed this bee hive for my collection--thanks, Melisa!
And the one I am working on now--is also a Melisa design--
As for knitting--
I got '2' new hats done in the new pattern--though there was some taking out--or undoing the bind off row, to add more length--still not sure they are long enough???
Not alot of adventures--just the grocery shopping trips--and watching prices go up and up!!!
But last Friday, Carolyn and I walked around the block to the Harvest Thyme Cafe and I got some flower photos--
we had a nice lunch of ice tea and Strawberry French toast--yum--and another friend even 'popped' in to join us--!!
We had a Thunder storm yesterday afternoon that last for over an hour--of consent lightning--never have seen or heard a storm with that much lightning, before--and the funny thing was --hardly any rain--now this afternoon more thunder--but not so close and we had some rain!!!!!
TIME TO GET BACK TO MY APPLIQUE FLOWERS--THEN SOME HAND QUILTING--AND I WILL TOP IT OFF WITH SOME KNITTING BEFORE BED--
TAKE CARE--STAY SAFE--EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO STAY HOME AND JUST STITCH!!
HUGS, DI

You sure are busy! That's a lot of finishes! I love them all! I remember that book by Eleanor Burns. I don't think I had any of her books but our guild did so we could use those copies. Wishing you a great day!
So good to finally work on an older project and good to have some pieces ready to sew.
Cute beanies…
Lovely bee and hive cross stitches…..
Have a wonderful week.
I like the rabbit hole your squirrel has led you down! Pretty flowers! And "The Hum of the Bees" is lovely. I put that one on my stitching list, too. Your last cartoon made me laugh! I'm not going to listen to any strangers either, lol!
You are always so busy, Di and have so many wonderful projects in the works. You are a true inspiration to me. I love Eleanor Burns. I have one of the books. It is so exciting to see your block and look forward to seeing the next one. Aaah all of your embroidery and stitching is so beautiful. I am so honored you stitched the bee crock and have started The Hum of the Bees. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Have a wonderful day and Happy Quilting- and stitching. Hugs.
