SOME FUN STUFF

Had a couple outings this week--and did some 'fun' stuff--and also had some 'fun' in the stitching field!!

First up is a full finish--

My Orange peel project I did online--in yellow-- is all finished, but a final pressing--

I hand quilted 1/4" around inside each yellow peel--then did one of two different designs in the center of each group of peels and finally did 2 rows of hand quilting going all round the outside of the peels and then did  curve corners on it and added the binding--This was a fun project to make and yes--I do know how I am planning on using this--so stay tuned!!!

Right now I am working on the Truck embroidery wall hanging-with hand quilting--just have to do the outer border--then the binding and I did pick out the binding this morning!!

Remember there is 4 of these  trucks----couldn't find a photo of them all into the top--but stay tuned should have it finished by next week's post!!!

For Counted Cross stitching--
I got the stitching done on this one--

This was a kit that Anne sent me for my birthday---they had a circle of a few little flowers going around this bee--but this cloth is soooo stiff it is hard to work on--so I finished it with my own design!!! Haven't decided how I want to finish this for displaying just yet?????

And the one I am working on now--

Yep--bet you see a 'theme' going on here--!!!

As for knitting--I started this project yesterday--

it's a childs had in different sizes--started from the top down--something I have never tried--and where I send my baby sweaters they are always asking for hats--so--as this is 'learn something new month' I thought I would give it a try as there is a couple new stitches to me in this hat--I got the first 2 rows done so far---I got this pattern from Ravelry and seen this on--lovetostitch.blogspot.com--(on the right side panel of this post)--by Raewyn

And on Wednesday a friend and I went on adventure--first we stopped at Barnes n Noble book store as I needed a gift card for my friend Anne in NY and I got this magazine--
Don't know if I have ever seen a Magazine on embroidery before--the stem of blue frosted balls I picked up at our next stop--the Salvation Army Thrift Store--for only 99 cents--not sure how I will use them but at the higher prices now on silk flowers--99 Cents sounded like a bargain--soooo?????

These are the other items I got the Salvation Army store--this little pink cup is cute and fit's in with my pink theme so well--it is not this dark of pink really and those fake flowers come right  out if I want to use it some other way--there is 2 different wood rounds in this package--
And you know I love 'roses' on china dishes--so for 99 cents it came home too--and who could resist such a cute wood bear with a bright red ribbon--and what a neat small straw hat!! spent total of $6.00-

We went to Cracker Barrel for lunch--after a quick stop at Walmart--and all these 'littles' came home with me--

4 items for Halloween and Fall decorating-and I love anything Ladybug--and this ladybug boot had to come home,  a slice of pie and an icecream cone for my tea stand in the kitchen!!!

We did one more stop on the way home--

This little dish--which is old and has the age cracks on the bottom of it--was only 50 cents and has the blue flowers on one side and the yellow flowers and butterfly on the other side, and the weave on the dish looks like a basket--!!!!

Went on a second adventure on Thursday with another friend here--and we took the bus and first got off at the library--I did buy 4 books in their sale room for a total of $3--Then we got back on the bus and went to Publix grocery store--where I learned that both kinds of crackers I like-- went up 20 cents a box--the small frozen pizza I (used to like) went up 50 cents--but they changed the crust and the sauce--boo!!
I got 12 items--only three where just under $3---rest were higher in  price--OUCH!!!

WELL THAT'S THE NEWS FOR THIS WEEK--I MANAGED TO KEEP MY NEEDLES FLYIN--IT IS STILL HOT AND HUMID HERE--BUT WE HAVE HAD SOME RAIN AND THAT IS GOOD!!

HAVE AN AWESOME, MID AUGUST, FUN THIS WEEK--TAKE TIME TO WATCH SOME NATURE IT IS A NATURAL DESTRESSER!!!!
HUGS, DI

That cartoon in the fabric store is very funny! And I love the pretty things you found at Cracker Barrel. They are doing road construction where I would have to travel to get to one so I guess I'll have to wait! Hugs!

Embroidery, stitching and thrifting- you had a wonderful week, Di! You found some wonderful finds while out and about. I do need to make a visit to my Cracker Barrel to see what is in. Love your truck embroideries and it is so exciting to see your progress on the Bee Skep. Thank you for adding it to your summer stitching. I wish you a lovely weekend. Stay cool and keep those needles flying. Hugs.
