Well--we are officially into Fall season here in the USA--but--
I am slow on the changing over from spring/summer decor to Fall one--!!!
But then it is hard to get into the Fall mode here in Florida--we have less humidity--but our days are still sunny and low 90's--sooo--that's my 'excuse' and I am sticking with it--!!!!
Been working steady on all my projects--of which I did get one Fall piece embroidered--
But have not been able to get to my Fall fabrics--cause my back and left side has decided to be a bit on the painful-stiff side and don't dare lift totes right now and my Christmas/fall fabric tote is on the bottom of the stack!!!! I am also working on a second Fall embroidery piece---I am also working a bit each day and doing the detail work on my Flower blocks--
Can you see the details I have added to these--
I have '8' done out of 21 so far---I am thinking of finishing these blocks in the quilt as you go method--talking about this--I think our computers, etc, can hear out thoughts--I woke the other day to this idea and low and behold on facebook that day--they showed me '2' different videos on how to 'quilt as you go' and this has happened a few times now to me---scary crazy!!! If I do this method I can do each block separately and then sew all the blocks together, cause I believe this quilt will be wider than my table to sew it first and then baste it-soo?????
And some finishes--
this Bee hive cross stitching is all finished--
I even ordered the black twisted braid to go around it but also decided to add a bit more to it with the green ribbon!! I really love how this piece came out--once again one of Melisa's designs--thanks Melisa!
And another of her small projects was finished--
a sheep in a basket with sunflowers--I decided to try the black braid around it this time too--and did like the way it came out--I just might become 'a braid girl' after all!!!!!!!
And this is the latest cross stitch I am working on--
And yes--another of Melisa's designs--
and another little sweater--was finished--
a nice bit darker, purple sweater than the photo shows-- and I am nearly done with another sweater--I was thinking this morning about where I might be number wise in knitting these sweaters--I had started knitting them just before moving to Florida--10 years ago--and I send about 30-50 per year to World Vision-so that must mean I am working in the --oh my--can I be somewhere between 400 or so--oh my that is so hard for me to believe--but it must be---so!!!!!!
***********
One of the conversations within the blog sites I read--this past week--has been where and when did you learn to sew and to crafty things and who taught you???
Two things stood out to me--one my mother sewed alot of our clothes till we got to Highschool--I was the oldest--and she was a good cook--but she did not teach me either one--I learned most of my sewing and cooking in 4-H--I was a member for 7 years--Jr high through Senior year -- my mom also crocheted, but again--I believe I taught myself, as well all the other crafts I did and do--another quick story about the knitting--my Dad's best friend and his wife and kids and the best friends brothers always came to our house for Thanksgiving--the men went deer hunting-my Mom worked in the kitchen all day doing the cooking for the big meal at dinner time to feed 20 people--and the wife--well--she sat on a tall metal stood in the dining area --knitting away on '4' needles--making mittens for her kids for Christmas--I used to sit and watch her -those '4' needles fascinated me alot--not sure if that is why I enjoy knitting more than crochet or not--but I would rather knit any day--
I taught myself--with the help of a quilt store to quilt in 1999 or so and haven't stopped yet--oh and I used to make my own clothes as an adult and for my daughter when she was young--but not now!!!
SO IS EVERYONE ELSE ALL DECORATED FOR FALL (OR SPRING)!!!DID YOU MAKE ANYTHING NEW THIS YEAR FOR THE SEASON????
KEEP ON STITCHING AND DREAMING--
HUGS, DI

Your flowers are beautiful! The quilt as you go will be perfect for those. Yes, it is scary how FB does pop up ads based on what you are talking about or thinking. I put out the fall things the beginning of this month, as I have lots of fall things I enjoy seeing. I had home ec in school to learn basic sewing but taught myself with books early on in 1992 or so. Cooking - I learned from my Mom. Knitting - pearl and knit stitch were taught by my Mom. Crochet, I figured out myself. I do love the youtube videos that are available now. It helps out so much seeing things done, rather than just reading a book. Have a great weekend.
Your flower blocks are so lovely. Your cross stitch projects turned out beautifully. Hope the soreness and stiffness goes away soon. Other than change out our table cloth to a fall themed one, I don't do much for autumn decor. Happy stitching this week.
I've got Fall out with some September things, but going to change that out a little with October and more pumpkins. I love seeing what you're working on, especially Melisa's designs and those pretty flowers! I learned most of my sewing skills from my mom, but never liked it all that much until I discovered quilting!
I adore flowers and flower blocks. Love yours very much and esp. the embellishments. Lovely cross stitching as well. I enjoyed reading your stitching journey. MY you are talented, Di!
