SO WHERE ARE WE--

I think we are on day # 32 for here in this building--
life sure has changed alot during those 32 days too--
more on that maybe at the end--
let's get to some good stuff first--

Remember me having a 'hissy' fit in the last post about a sewing project--
it involved this project--
see this checkerboard outer border to the center square???
well--this is the 2nd one I did--
the first one I did take the time to unstitch the blocks around the center square--
thinking I could just figure out which ones to redo--well that was a joke--
there was only about 4-5 that were really the correct size--
so I started over again and this time I did add some orange and purple to the boxes--
not just all pink and green as the first time--and then it came out--
too long--by about half and inch--
so we slept on it over night--
and by morning I took the strips and resewed just beside the first row of stitching--
on the inside of that row and then--
wow--perfect fit--
so these got sewed on to the center square--
then all those other fancy blocks I had made got sewn onto a narrow border that
went around the checkerboard center--
I did have to redo one block--the basket block on the far left over the tulip block--
can't tell you what I did wrong there--but for some reason the block was too small
compared to the rest of them--it is an easy block to redo though--
and then I kept going--
and I have finished top hanging on the living room wall for a photo shoot!!!
the 2 solid aqua's that I used for the inner borders came in that fat quarter pack I
showed you recently--good timing--and the other border has white polka dots on it!!!
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
And now on to another finish--for me--
I started the Bonnie Hunter "Unity" mystery quilt this time--
cause we started with a center square--
and I knew that way I could stop whenever I thought it was large enough for me-
as you know I am more a smaller scale quilter--
so I did Part 1 and Part 2--
but by then I felt is was getting rather large--and I really wanted to show case
the flower print as it's a retro print--
so here is my finish--
this is about 42" square--and will be alot of hand quilting when it's number, in line comes up!!!
this is hanging on my bedroom wall for the photo shoot!!!
So this week I had two finishes to the flimsy stage!!!
I am ready for a stay-vacation now --
and to slow down and do some house work and some regular decorating now that all the
holidays are over for while!!!

I also did alot and I mean I have been doing alot of hand quilting on the teapot quilt-
but I am getting  close to the binding part--I hope??????
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Now for my first venture out to a grocery store--first time in 36 days!!
My son, Dan, picked me up about 7 pm and we drove to the closest Publix--
(which I have decided I really don't care for---next time we will go the extra 2 miles to get to a bigger Publix store!)   about half of the customers had masks on--but nearly everyone was pretty good about not getting too close-the problem was this is a very crowded and mixed up merchandised store--so it was hard to follow the rules--and most of the employees did have masks on--but not all and no body wore gloves--the funny part was--I had $194 to spend and I did not add anything up--I put 6 gallons of water in the wagon and just added stuff on top of it so had a full wagon when I got to the check out--and my groceries came to-----$194.24--how is that for not knowing what you are doing????

oh and of course--the paper aisle was empty--haven't people gotten loaded up for the 10  years on those items yet?????
This afternoon all items where unboxed and rebagged into gallon zip lock bags and put back in the freezer--everything else was wiped off with alcohol wipes--you know this Covid thing is alot of extra work--what with masks, gloves, wiping everything down, washing hands--standing 6 feet apart--way too much work--my Mom always said 'you had to eat a peck of dirt' to be healthy--well--I don't think I have eaten my whole peck yet--but how can I --if I have to wash my hands everything I get up???

a couple more changes here--
they put the wicker chairs back out in the lobby--but kept about a 2-3 ft space between them--What???   Yet--they now have blue tape on the floors for 6ft from the elevators as to where to stand while waiting for the elevators--and only one person on the elevator at a time (which I have been doing for a month now!!)  yet one tenant last night when I came in with my groceries wanted me to get on the elevator with him--no thank you--he really couldn't understand why I wouldn't--???
so things are weird these days--aren't they???

BAKE OR GIVE SOME SWEETS TO A DELIVERY PERSON THIS WEEK--
OR A BOTTLE OF WATER--

LUV, DI

Sew good you persevered with the blocks because they do look beautiful together.
Oh Yes shopping and going anywhere is a whole new experience.
Some folks need to be patient and more understanding....

Both quilttops are lovely - and a lot of detail and work. I don’t think I would have had much hair left if I attempted that!
Masks aren’t a must here, but I have sewn some just in ase things get worse. I do have gloves with me for shopping, but I think I was the only one last week. Stay safe,Di. Big hugs.

Lovely work on your quilts! I'm sure you must have a lot of patience just like I do when I cross stitch :)

Haven't been in a grocery store in almost since March 7th! We've just done curbside pickup which works well--take good care now!
