I am soooo very happy today--
as yesterday--
I took a day for fun--and hard work and did a project that I have wanted to do for a long time now!!!
Remember when I cross stitched these '5' ABC samplers???
I finished the last one, back in the fall of 2018 in NY while I was suffering with that 'wonderful' painful case of the shingles-- and I then rolled them all up and put them in a nice bag to keep for when I moved back to Florida--well--would you believe that was nearly a year ago now that I have been back here???
and so yesterday was the day I had decided I had to do them--and here they are--and you will never guess what 'cardboard' piece I used for under them!!! Remember when I moved in here and Frannie and I built the cabinet for over my toilet in the bathroom??? It came with a large piece of cardboard for the back of the upper part--we did not get it on it that day and then I decided I did not want it on--as this sits right next to the tub and I was worried about the cardboard getting moisture in it and molding from the steam and dampness of the bathroom--so it was just sitting in the corner behind the ironing board and it was perfect for this project--as one side was all white--I needed something that was at least 23" long-and it fit the bill for that too--I got 6 nice pieces in the right length--though I only needed '5'--!
I even had gotten the board painted while I still lived here the first time!!! and this is where I hung it for now--on the board is magnetic pieces and on the back of each cross stitch piece is magnetic pieces, so they can be changed out by season--
this is what I used for magnetic pieces-
These are name plate magnetic strips --a box of 100---I ordered these back in October!! Oh and don't worry I have a use for a few more of these strips--they are so easy to use too--just peel off that white paper and stick it to whatever!!!
so one great project complete--!!!
I also finished the hand piecing of the '9' Christmas blocks yesterday afternoon-
These will be set on point when I get to that stage-have to decide what fabric/color will go between them to finish this project--!!! there is a fox, 2 cardinals, 2 squirrels, a twig star, a birdhouse, 2 rabbits and a bunny!!
the white bunny has a cardinal on his back!!!!
On Monday--
I needed to make some more of these--
I made '7' more--as I had a couple orders to fill and made me a couple different ones too--I used the new soft stretchy elastic that Alice sent me and it is so nice to work with--Thanks Alice--!
And we had a big thunder storm Tuesday afternoon and I was sitting her stitching and happened to look up and out the window and I seen this--
part of a big beautiful rainbow and there is actually a second one there too-look to the far left!!It is also fun and pretty to watch the sun set from the looking at these reflections on the windows --some nights the windows have a pink glow to them, too!!
Today--I have started prepping for a new applique project--more on this in a day or two--in the meantime--

The cross stitch pieces are gorgeous. Same with the quilt blocks. We are back in lockdown here in Melbourne Australia with a curfew. Masks are now compulsory for us in Melbourne so I have been making a few also. Cannot get the elastic right and this elastic looks perfect. So much more comfortable
What a great way to display your cross stitch! The rainbows are so fun to see down here. With all the rain and sun - we are blessed with lots of them. Can't wait to see the new project.
Your cross stitch display is gorgeous .. and so good to have your blocks done.
Beautiful rainbows...
That cartoon is something else...not funny....something else! hahahaha! Love your rainbow! I hope we don't see anything worse than showers in the days to come! Hugs!
The display for your ABC stitcheries turned out beautifully! Those definitely should be out for display, they all turned out beautifully. Love the Christmas blocks too. Looking forward to seeing those all stitched up into a finished flimsy.
Your cross stitch piece seems to fit perfectly on that board. Good finish.
What a gorgeous rainbow! We had a super beautiful sunset tonight. I've always loved thos cross stitches. I think I have a couple of the patterns, so I just may have to dig them out! Your frame looks like a great solution.
I’m in love with our Christmas blocks, they are so lovely! And the ABC display is really neat - marvellous idea to use magnets!
Hugs!
