LINNING UP MY 'SISTERS'

One of main goals this week was to get my sister blocks into a quilt top--or should I say the rest of the sister blocks--as I had already done some--used '13' into a small quilt for a wall hanging--though I will need to move to a much larger apartment for the wall space!!!

As I was squaring up my blocks to 7" squares--I found I only had 20 that I could do that with--the other 5 came out too small for some reason--so what to do--

1. recut all the sisters in 7" squares to 6 1/2"

2. make 5 new sister blocks

I decided to make 5 new ones--for some reason I do love to make these blocks--so I went though the colors I had and discovered I had 5 single color family blocks so I went though my stash and matched up 5 new sister blocks--

On the left is the one I had already done--on the right is the new one--

Purple, green, yellow, orange and plum color--

then I was ready to pin them up on the wall board and arrange them--

and then the fun really began--sewing the blocks together into rows--That happened on Friday afternoon and on Saturday afternoon--I sewed the rows together and got this far--

So I am at the same spot as the wall hanging--needing to decide on borders???

And here is this week's Country block--

There was embroidery on this one--where as before they were mostly all applique!

And here is this week's heart block--

The author of this block had used rick rack again -with the heart laying on top--but the only color I had was black and it was 'stiff as a board' for some reason and I could not sew through it--so once again I did my own thing and came up with an embroidered loopy design going around it--it also needs a bow--but again-I need to go shopping to get some really narrow ribbon!!!  Who wants to go shopping this week???

And here is Project sheet #3 of Melisa's Christmas embroideries--

My gingerbread man looks like he is running away???  And I have started Sheet #4--

And here is where I am on some other projects--

more Christmas hearts got appliqued--

As for the Mr. Jack blocks--here is where I am on Block #3-

the pumpkins and cat need their eyes and they are done--but I still have fall leaves and felt stars to embroidery on, in the wool pieces yet--

and here is where I am on my Counted Cross stitching project--
I am nearly done here--just some flowers on her hat and some other little details--wonder what I will pick to do next????   Isn't that chicken on the back of the lamb cute???????

Time for my lunch and then I need to wrap some birthday gifts and get it ready to mail--the rocking chair will keep me comfy while I watch the race in my 'old' home town of Watkins Glen and I work on hand stitching projects, later this afternoon!!!   And we just had a nice rain storm here--so the birds and plants will be happy!!!

HAVE FUN THIS WEEK AND DO SOMETHING NEW AND DIFFERENT AND LET ME KNOW
HUGS, DI

Your Sisters is looking beautiful--I've never tried making that block--did you find it hard?
My favorite flower -- that's tough as I love them all, but high on the list are roses (haha Julierose after all) and then peonies and irises and marigolds...
Have a great week hugs, Julierose

Aah so many fabulous projects that you worked on this week. I love your pretty Sisters and it is so much fun to see your progress on Country Christmas doodles. Thank you so much for stitching them. Your gingerbread man certainly does look yummy. Lol. Hmm my favorite flower- Well I love them all, but I enjoy growing zinnias and marigolds.

Your Sister's blocks are really fun. Your Christmas Hearts is my favorite project you've got in the works at the moment. Stay cool and happy stitching this week.
