In just '2' more days we will have to start 'talking turkey"!!!!!
I realize that alot of you love the month of October--- me, not so much--I am not a big Halloween fan--we did go tricker --treating now and then, growing up--but it wasn't a big thing --when my kids were little I did dress them up each year and took them out--I often made their costumes--clown, Santa clause are 2, I remember--and one year it was so cold--that I dressed them in their one piece pj's and added homemade ears and gave them Easter baskets to collect their treats in-- they were the hit of the town that year!!!
Ok--enough memories for this week--
on to stitching news--
I finished the hand quilting and the binding on the bird wall hanging--
I, really like how this one came out--and yes --I did hand quilt around each of those birds on the borders!!!!
Then I spent the rest of the week working on finishing the Country quilt--
First I did a new house block--but when it came time to actually put the quilt row together--it just did not look right and I went back to the first one I did--the 'blue' house and I just added some embroidery to it--
and I added the grey sidewalk to go to the flower garden!!!
And this last block took me awhile to do--
I finally decided on a Christmas tree--the fabric for the tree had the little red ornaments already on it--I did stitch a lazy daisy chain in gold on it for a bit of interest -- and then what to do under the tree kept my brain busy for a couple days--and decided to add some gifts from, Jesus, under the tree--
Then I went to sew the strip together and went to sew it to the rest of the quilt and for what ever reason discovered the strip was----2" too short--so now what to do????????????
I discovered I could just add another row of 2" squares with a white patch between them--then what to do in the white strip--and this is what I did--
Now it all fit and here it is --all finished--
and if you didn't notice before--I did the alphabet in the 'in between' piece on the 9 patches--

did you go trick or treating as a child--and what was your favorite costume?
Love the story of the pj's as a Halloween costume story. I like Halloween, but I my holiday is Christmas, I will actually decorate for that holiday. The Country quilt turned out beautifully! Very fun blocks. The bird mini is really cute too. You've been moving along with all your projects.
I enjoyed reading the Halloween story...memories for me too of when my two girls were young. You have lovely projects on the go and doing beautiful stitching Diane. I love seeing the pieces close up. Yes, you have a big holiday with the great American Thanksgiving coming up...think of Charlie Brown when I wrote that. I always watch a Thanksgiving movie at that time too.
