OH WHAT A RELIEF IT IS--

To have the grocery shopping done for another 3 weeks!!!

My girl friend and I had planned to go on Tuesday--but we both ended up not feeling well--so we put it off till Wednesday--she picked me up around 10:30 or so and off we went to Publix--now at Publix, they no longer have the wipes inside the doors--as when they collect the carts from the parking lot someone stays outside and cleans them off and only adds some inside the doors as needed--But--I always have a wipe ready to redo the handle bar--as I have noticed that people tend to change their minds about which cart they want after already putting their hands on one--like yesterday--but my wipe came to the rescue!!!  I only seen one mother (with 4 children) that did not have a mask on and neither did her kids(and they were old enough to have been able to have them on--would of been good practice for them, too!!!) not sure how she got in without one, but she did!!!  And I was a good little old lady and followed the arrows--sometimes I get in there and am in such a hurry to get my things and get out --I forget to look for the arrows!!!

Then we did a quick stop at JoAnn's--I needed a smaller pair of scissors--

I purchased the the orange package on the right--and just a month ago had gotten the larger one--at that time I probably should of gotten the package that had both sizes in it--(for the same cost) but I didn't figure I needed that smaller size as I had a pair--the pair that went on 'strike' this past week and now refuses to cut fabric!!!!   This smaller pair--the regular price is $18.00--ouch--I did have a 40% off coupon though and that brought the price down ot $10.50--much better--but still!!!! And I paid the same price for that larger pair???  And while I was only in the store for a few minutes--I did notice how empty the fabric shelves are--I mean they might--might have about half of the inventory they used to have!!!

Anyways I was soooo very glad to get home and get everything unloaded and put away--and get my clothes off and get a good shower--(never had to do that or have felt that I needed to shower after grocery shopping)---it is a big job now to go do something that used to be fairly simple--how times have changed--they say--some change is good--we will have to see 'which' changes that turns out to be????

I did get some sewing work done--On Monday--I got backings and battings cut for the apron quilt top and the Silver lining top--On Tuesday--I got them both pressed and got the apron one all basted and most of the  Silver lining one--then on Wednesday morning I was able to get the rest of the Silver lining one finished--And I have gotten some hand quilting done on the Apron one--

I also finished up the basket blocks this week--

now to decide how to finish these????

And now I am back to working on this project--

Remember when I did this block for the Book Club hand piecing blocks and fell in love with it!! and then redid the block so I could make a whole quilt just with this block and cutouts from the same line for the center blocks???

I have gotten back to stitching one block a day--and now have '4' done--have '5' more to do--so this morning I needed to cut out more red triangles and more  of the black ones--had wanted to do some in a green where the red one is-but never found a green that I likes so all of them will have the red-!!

WHETHER YOU WANT TO OR NOT--ALWAYS THINK OF WAYS TO BE SAFE--

WHEN OUT AND ABOUT THESE DAYS--

Your red block with the cut out are possibly the prettiest blocks I've seen you create. Maybe you will find a print for the border that has a bit of green you like in it. Good you found your scissors at the store - so many things are gone nowadays. I don't think I've seen anyone at the stores without a mask. I think we as a whole are doing pretty good.

They're the sweetest blocks. I know the feeling about racing into the shops and back out again (and forgetting something). I couldn't do three weeks worth though. Good on you. We are back in complete lockdown with a curfew here in Australia. Our death rate is now above 350 Australia wide so we've been ordered back indoors. I'm thankful it is Winter though. Take care.

I totally understand your grocery store stress. I have been trying to go to my local CVS for 4 days to pick up meds for my 93 year old mom. It has been crowded and people have entered with no mask or it under their nose. I may have to request that it be delivered. I can't risk mom's health or mine as I am her only helper. I have been doing as much online ordering as I can. I love those pin-wheel blocks. Stay safe.

I always try to stock up for at least 2 weeks as well.... going into public is such a task these days. Most folks are wearing masks around here. I pray this virus goes away soon. Be safe and stay well.

HA! Even the mosquito's are cleaning before biting! Too funny! Love that red block.... I did a quilt for hubby in green and browns with that patter. Fun to do. Stay safe.... I'm trying to use what I have as our area is not good at wearing masks...yes, we are the county with the now infamous sheriff.

Hi Di, I can relate regarding shopping at the grocery store..and some people not wearing masks. I go very early in the morning with the rest of the seniors and they all, wear masks. Although at the store I shop at everyone has to even the store employees have to. So no mask..they will, supply one for you but if refuse not allowed.
That also is with alot of business here in Des Moines.
Looks as though you,are having fun with sewing your baskets look forward as to what you plan to create with them and those wonderful star blocks, your colors and print combinations are wonderful!
Those mosquitos can create a nasty bite itch..I am surprised that it bit you with the wipe you used!
Stay safe "Di"

Keeping busy as always I see! I know what you mean about grocery shopping. I can't wait to get home and get clean. I used to just wash my hands - now I wash up to my elbows when I get home. I'm going out a bit more now, but always with a mask, and keeping my distance. Love the mosquito funny!!

Going out to do anything is a chore these days. We actually ventured into Target last week. Thankfully everyone had their masks on. We went early so there were not a lot of people there. Love those Christmas blocks. Hope you've had time to work up a couple more.
